I recently made contact with some members of my old wow guild from back in 2004-2006 time frame. Man talk about how time flies. Some of them still play wow, but back then was the golden era. World of Warcraft came out around the time of Hellgate: London, City of Heroes/City of Villians and when wow’s popularity skyrocketed, nearly all other mmo’s outside of Everquest, closed up shop.
It’s crazy to think how long this game has lasted, how many updates and patches it’s received. It no longer runs on the same set of PC hardware that it did back then. The engine’s been updated so many times and the graphics have increased so much that it’s basically a new game.
Back then to get into raids was a chore, so I would lie to friends and family about being sick, and was speeding home to get into raids. Once I realized I was addicted, I had to cut it off. One day I simply canceled my account and haven’t looked back for 15 years now.
