Remote working has changed collaboration

I’ve been in IT for as long as I can remember, and during that time when we needed to have a meeting with co-workers, we’d find time on everyone’s calendar and look at room availability.

This is all changing right before our very eyes. As platforms such as Slack, Zoom and Microsoft Teams become more robust, gone are the days of needing to physically meet up. I’ve even seen stories of people taking video calls in their shorts and flipflops because the camera only shows their face.

We’ve been hearing for years about the studies on how social media has forced a decline in people actually meeting up to exchange ideas and hang out, I wonder how remote work will affect our psyche over the years.

Will it make more people shell up and become a recluse?

I personally can’t wait for offices to start opening back up. Humans are social creatures and we need to talk with people using our mouths, not our keyboards.
